I've been analyzing my income and spendings and found out that I did spent nearly 5.000 € shocked last year on RPG stuff (including shipping and everything).

That's damn too much!! shocked

How do you guys control the money you spend on the collection? I know falstaff is working with a monthly budget. I'm thinking of doing so, too, and cutting it down to less than half of what I spent last year.

Do you have similar experiences?

I treat myself as I get a decent contract or payout or something that must be purchased for it may never be seen again.

I am getting much better at the spending though these days. I do really enjoy the thrill of the auction and looking through the items. I most enjoy seeing rare things go up for auction and knowing that I don't need that anymore.

well. as I said to Ralf earlier that day -> I would buy more if I had a proper cash flow. think it is a trade off between my wallet and my wifes attitude towards my hobby Wink

Collecting is OK with my babe, as long as

a) she gets a fair share of the money I spend on collecting for herself
b) there are no ALMA MATER boxes or similar stuff in my mail Sad

a) is OK, though b) can hurt from time to time. However, the pain will be much worse should I ever purchase a category b) item and SHE finds out... then helps no Angel and no shrug , only surrender ...

Fortunately, for me I have a pretty good mailing system down. I arrive at home before the other half does. I open my goodie packages and discard the mailing evidence before she get home. Laughing

I don't mind if she finds out. I just would rather lessen the collective effect of seeing everything come in.

ah sabine never complains anyway. it's that I always get packages and she gets none. so after a few days she orders herself some new thingies too

and she is the saving type. always transfers sums to various bank accounts (runs in the family - brother works for some financial service always rambling about stock options and stuff *hehe*).

I'm single so at least I don't have to manage the infamous wife-acceptance factor...
Nevertheless, I spend way too much money on ebay. Actually, I'm a few thousands euros short to pay my taxes. Embarassed
Maybe I should offer to pay a part with rare non-TSR items !

So for the moment, I manage it by reducing my bids to virtually nothing, except the Dwarven Glory recently. (and a couple of "Diddl" auctions for my nieces...)

When cash will be flowing again, I'll decide what to do. Wink
