She sent me an email on that one. LT topped out when the same buyer bought two in the same week a year or two ago. Someone pushed the last one up to about the same price again.

If the condition on this LT is the same as the other materials I've gotten from the same seller, then this copy is probably the best one that has ever been available. Their stuff has been beautiful.

re: LW I thought that the LW ending was odd because the book can be had for a lot less. Maybe the 1st US is harder to find. I simply don't know. Didn't a couple of the red cover come up this year for much less? One was from Canada, I think. I was watching that one until the $180 jumped to $360.

$200ish sounds not unreasonable for what's still a pretty decent copy just before Christmas. In terms of numbers listed on abe in the past decade or so, the 1st US print seems to be about as common as the 1st UK. The US prints normally had (much) lower price tags and have tended to sell out in recent years.
There was a relatively expensive 1st UK print earlier in the year on eBay as well as one at ~$125. Snagged the latter, but it was unfortunately forwarded in error amongst the last of the surface M-bag consignments. Lost that to USPS rifling, but still keeping an eye open in case it resurfaces online...

Out of interest/aside, did someone request that pic for the "cheap" Strategos recently relisted on abe? It wasn't relisted with that a week or so back. (A rather worn copy, unfortunately, given the price).

Helps to read: guess that's the explanation. Wink
Would probably have been a smart idea to buy up the others if possible when those were $25-40.

I think the Guidon buyers did pretty good. I was a little surprised that SE didn't have a buyer since it was vended with and without the map/counters http://www.tomeoftreasures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2963

DGUTS looked a bit high, IMO, although it has been even more in the past: was a very fine looking copy, however, and agreed; "pretty good" on that basis. Ironclad made it back to $50+ for the first time in what felt like ages: doesn't seem to be particularly "in demand", even on a high profile sale in fine condition.

$1502 & $1602 IIRC. There was a private sale higher at around the same time and Dragonstrove presumably picked up the $1500 they were asking for their somewhat worn copy. (In that context, I'm surprised a frustrated buyer hasn't nailed their $1k Tsojconth yet).

I am not trying to criticize someone's auction, but direct from their own description:

Quote:
i won't take any buy it now offer, but if you have any interesting offer, just LMK,and i'll see at the end of the auction if i sell it to the better offer.

Obviously, use extreme caution when bidding as they are basically saying they might not sell it to you if they get a better offer than the winning bid. shocked shocked shocked

With one exception, these were $10, $20, and $30 items for years. Why the sudden spike? Anyone know?

Actually its 2 people that have bix rather large amounts to get the itema, take either of these out of the pic and the max bid is approx $50. The same can be said for the Temple of Andar that just finished..Wink I think that there are several collectors that are getting sick and tired of waiting for an item to appear and maybe getting outbid in the last min.. and when you are earning good mony what is an extra $50-$100 on an item that you are particularly after at the end of the day, and extra couple of hours at work but you have the item and no you no longer need to search for it or wait for it to come up again..

That does make some sense. I was confused because Bearhug stuff comes up regularly. Aaron always seems to have some around. I didn't think they were that rare. The Andar isn't terribly common, so I jumped on the first one. Now the "VERY RARE D&D ROLE PLAYING MODULE 'THE TEMPLE OF ANDAR'" seems to be enjoying a remarkable comeback--the seller has three up right now having sold three. I do hope that the Bearhug prices will bring some more out of the woodwork.

I think there's something in the water or the air. Maybe Lance and I should get together and compare medications. En garde!

I do notice that the bearhug games show up with some regularity but I have only seen their generic fantasy gaming related products "The Accoutery" - general shop counters and "The Compleat Trove" - a wider assortment of counters, once.

The boxed set is the Starter Traveller it loots incomplete. The Alien modules look in nice shape and the are worth a coupe of $$ but nowhere near that. The Space master atlas belongs to the Space Master game and not this I believe.. Also the second highest bidder is a newby that without him this would be sitting at $100 odd dollars...

check out here for scans for this traveller stuff
